An Evansville neighborhood is celebrating a group of young volunteers at the park they've worked so hard to keep clean. The Tepe Park Neighborhood Association had its "Litter Quitters" Thank you picnic in Evansville, and city officials say the south side neighborhood has come a long way. Tepe Park is a lot more kid-friendly, thanks to the youth who helped clean it up. Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke is thanking those young people for supporting the city and even joining in on a little fun. He says the earlier kids pitch in to help the River City, the better. Evansville Police Chief Billy Bolin says he used to patrol this area, and is impressed with its progress. Later in the day, the city presented new bases and balls for a kickball field at Tepe Park. To date, Mayor Winnecke's Clean Evansville initiative has picked up more than 13 thousand pounds of trash with the help of more than a thousand volunteers.
