Owensboro Police Chief Announces Retirement

Colonel Glenn W. Skeens, Chief of the Owensboro Police Department, has announced his retirement effective September 1, 2012.

Colonel Skeens began his law enforcement career with the Owensboro Police Department in 1989. He has served in key leadership positions within the department for 12 years.  He was promoted to the rank of Captain in 2000, followed by Deputy Chief in 2002. Skeens served as Deputy Chief until his appointment to Chief in 2007.

Colonel Skeens was appointed by Governor Steve Beshear to the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council, where he served a four year term. He holds a Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Eastern Kentucky University and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Roger Williams University.


Skeens says "I would like to thank the community for allowing me the opportunity to
lead the Owensboro Police Department. I could not be more proud of the men and women that serve this community. The Owensboro Police Department is second to none."
