breaking news
Keeping roads safe overnight is nothing new for Vanderburgh County Deputies. But this morning, they used a special method of busting drunk drivers. The sheriffs department set up a sobriety checkpoint at Franklin and 9th Streets to crack down on impaired drivers. They werent alone. Evansville Police and Indiana State Police took part too. They started enforcing the checkpoint last night and continued into the early morning hours Tuesday. This method of nabbing drunks might sound routine, but its actually quite rare. According to the Vanderburgh County Sheriffs Office eleven people were taken in and four were charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
