Toasters Recalled Due To Possible Fire Hazard
(Washington, DC) -- Some 12-thousand electric toasters distributed by Illinois-based Salton Incorporated are being recalled due to a possible fire hazard.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission reports the toasters can turn on without bread in the slots and set fire to items on top of it.
No incidents or injuries have been reported as a result of the defect.
Consumers are advised to stop using the toasters immediately and to cut off the power cord where it enters the toaster.
The cord can be mailed back for a refund.
Toasters involved in the recall were manufactured under the brand names Farberware (model . FCT200 or FCT100), Hoffritz (model . HZT2 and HZT2M) and Russell Hobbs (model .RH2MT).
They were sold from January 2000 through December 2007 online and by retail liquidators. More information can be found at www.esalton.com.
