A chemical explosion at a southern Indiana automotive plant injures 15 people.
The blast happened at the Jasper Engines and Transmission Plant in Carefree, Indiana.
Workers were mixing chemicals at the time. Emergency officials say the explosion released a cloud of hydrochloric acid. At least one person was transported to the hospital and at least 14 others were decontaminated and treated for minor inhalation injuries. The Crawford County Sheriffs Department initially ordered an evacuation within five miles of the plant, including delaying the dismissal of a nearby school. An investigation into the cause of the blast is underway.
