Red Cross Pleas for Volunteers to Help Sandbag

News Release: From: Southwestern Indiana American Red Cross Chapter RED CROSS ISSUES URGENT PLEA FOR VOLUNTEERS TO ASSIST WITH SANDBAGGING EFFORTS Evansville, Ind. – Volunteers are needed to assist with sandbagging efforts to keep floodwaters away from homes near Pigeon Creek in the Heckel Road area. Sandbagging is under way at Goebel Soccer Complex just off of Heckel Road. The road is not accessible from Green River Road, so volunteers should come by way of Oak Hill Road. Volunteers can check in at the McCutchanville Fire Department command center, located just off of Heckel Road at the Goebel Soccer Complex. Waters continue to rise in neighborhoods surrounding Pigeon Creek. Volunteers who have been sandbagging throughout the day are becoming fatigued and need to be relieved. Anyone interesting in volunteering who needs more information can contact the command center at 319-6073.
