A bill that would toughen penalties for animal abuse is even closer to becoming law in Kentucky.
The House Judiciary Committee voted in favor of Senate Bill 58, which would make animal abuse a felony instead of a misdemeanor.
The Senate bill came about following a case in Daviess County when a bit pull was dragged to its death.
However, it will most likely be named Romeos Law after another dog abuse case in Pulaski County.
The bill has already passed the Senate and could soon be up for a vote in the House.
