Suspected Drunk Driver Hits Off Duty Police Officer

By: Michael C. Fehn
Updated: October 9, 2012
An Evansville driver is in trouble after police say he was so drunk, he nearly ran head-on into an off duty police officer's vehicle.

Police say Martinez was traveling east in the westbound lanes of Washington Avenue, near Hebron, when he hit an off duty officer's car.

According to police documents, Martinez continued driving after the impact, but ran up on the concrete median, which caused one of his tires to blow out.

Officers say Martinez admitted to have had three or four beers, and had a blood-alcohol level of 0.26.  He now faces several charges, including drunk driving, and driving while having never received a license.

Nobody was seriously injured in the accident.
