Whirlpool employees take a break from working in the plant to help with a good cause. Today is the annual Day of Caring at St. Vincent Center for Children and Families in Evansville. This is the 17th year Whirlpool Corp. is supporting the mission by spending a day working on maintenance projects around the center. This year projects include repairing decks, tree removal, building shelves, and painting.

"They really like it," said Senior Facility Engineer Terry Thonburg. "We take care of alot of things for them that is sometimes hard to do with personal on staff."

This could be the last year volunteers participate in the event. Whirlpool is slowly letting employees go before they shut their doors in December 2014.
