breaking news
Close to a thousand people hustle through downtown Evansville hoping to win a 12-thousand dollar diamond ring. The third annual Kruckemeyer and Cohn Diamond Dash wrapped up a record year in attendance and for the first time, the winners did not propose on the spot. For the past two years the Diamond Dash winners have graciously accepted their ring, then the male gets down on one knee and pops the question, but not this year. After a two hour high tech scavenger hunt throughout the River City, one couple scores big. There were tons of runners-up but Valerie Ellmers and her boyfriend Caleb Holtz are the winners. The couple has been together for more than two years and aren't engaged, Holtz says he's choosing the traditional route. Instead of a regular announcement, the winners are alerted by a phone call since that's where all their clues come from. As to when the official proposal will be, only time will tell, but the one plus carat ring can be crossed off the to-do list.
K&C likely bought the $12,000 ring for about $500 from the supplier. You just can't believe the mark ups in jewelry.
