Crews Battle Fire at Abandoned Evansville Home

Firefighters responded to a structure fire around 7 p.m. Officials say the fire broke out at this abandoned home on the 1000 block of Cherry St. near downtown Evansville. Crews battled heavy smoke and flames but were able to put the fire out in 30 minutes. Neighbors say a homeless man was allegedly staying inside the building. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
