I.U. Eyes Roberts Stadium Property for School Expansion

By: Michael C. Fehn
Updated: October 22, 2012
The Indiana University School of Medicine is looking for a new location as it expands its Evansville program from two to four years.

A committee is looking at locations, including the Roberts Stadium property, in preparation for the June, 2013 expansion.

Mayor Lloyd Winnecke says the medical school expansion could create a pipeline of physicians for the area.  But he says he doesn't think the Roberts Stadium site would be large enough and prefers a park be put there.

Comments

The Mayor is right! The property is not big enough for what IU wants to do. This has nothing to do with IU being bigger than the Mayor.

Some entity larger that the Mayor should make the decision. IU is bigger than Winnicke.
