The City Council has voted to approve funding needed to tear down the building. Missy Mosby tells Eyewitness News, the vote was five to three in favor of moving $187,000 from the auction proceeds towards demolition.
Earlier this month, council members voted to deny Mayor Lloyd Winnecke's request to transfer the funds. The mayor says the city has $500,000 allocated for the demolition in next year's budget.
Final cost of demolition and property renovation is estimated at nearly a million dollars.
