One Tri-State electric company celebrated its birthday today. Kenergy Incorporated turned 75 today, and it celebrated by holding a ceremony today at the first home it sold electricity.

The Federal Rural Electrification Administration established in 1937 helped finance non-profit electric companies bring power to the countryside. Kenergy Corp. then brought light to Henderson's rural area after Cardinal Farms built a power grid.

"It's an amazing story," said Kenergy Corp. Communications and Public Relations Manager Renee Beasley Jones, "and that's what we're really celebrating today. Kenergy's 75th Anniversary, yes but more than that. Electricity for rural members started right here. This is the birth place at Cardinal Farms in Henderson County and for the whole state."

Today, Kenergy Corp. serves about 55,000 homes, businesses, and industries in 14 western Kentucky counties.
