Updated: October 30, 2012
UPDATE: Toyota officials tell Eyewitness News the fire started inside the plant's heating and air system.

PREVIOUS: Several hundred employees at the Gibson County Toyota plant had to evacuate Tuesday morning after a small fire broke out.

Toyota Spokesperson, Kelly Dillon, tells Eyewitness News, the fire started just before 8:00 in the East Body Weld Shop, causing about 700 workers to flee the building.

Dillon says Toyota employees were able to get the fire out before the fire department arrived.

Production in that part of the plant was immediately shut down, but Dillon says operations are expected to resume shortly.

The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.  We will have more on this story as information becomes available.
