Another step in the ongoing construction of Interstate 69 between Evansville and Indianapolis.

On Tuesday, the Indiana Department of Transportation announced the release of the Tier 2 Draft Environmental Impact Statement for I-69 Section 5, which is said to improve travel times along existing State Road 37.

"The DEIS shows that I-69 is both feasible and constructible while minimizing environmental impacts," said INDOT Deputy Commissioner Samuel Sarvis. "Indiana is a national leader in innovative highway financing and construction, and INDOT is exploring all options to continue delivering this critical project at record speed."

The DEIS will be the subject of a public hearing on Thursday, December 6th in Monroe County.  To view the document for yourself, click here.  Construction on the new section could begin as early as next year.
