The death rate at one Tri-state Humane Society is down to a record low, hundreds of animals are getting a second chance at life. The Henderson County Humane Society says its euthanasia rate has plummeted from close to fifty percent a year ago down to about five percent. The shelter says flat out, it wants animals to live and is only employing people with the same passion. Its methods of keeping animals alive are grabbing the hearts of animal lovers throughout Henderson County. Robert Bumgardner says he's found the one. Director of Operations Joshua Cromer says he's  seeing more success stories. This time last year almost nine hundred animals were euthanized, fast forward a year and only seventy sick and injured  animals have been killed. Cromer says it costs less to kill but his heart and the hearts of his employees have too much love for these animals. Euthanasia isn't the only progress, there's a new free roam cat room, adoptions are up twenty percent and rescues have doubled. All in all its a win-win situation for the animals and animal lovers. The Henderson Humane Society runs off donations and says its eating alot of costs for animals tied up in court cases and those that have been neglected.
