Evansville Man Charged With Embezzling From Warrick County Club

An Evansville man is facing charges of embezzlement.

Indiana State Police say 42-year-old John Ulrich was arrested Wednesday, and charged with stealing more than $60,000 from the Erie Canal Beagle Club in Warrick County, where he served as Treasurer.

Troopers say they began investigating Ulrich in August, after club members noticed several discrepancies in the organization's checking account.

Ulrich is accused of writing himself checks, totaling about $48,000.  Investigators say another $12,000 in checks were issued to a number of businesses for items not authorized by the Beagle Club.

Ulrich was released from the Warrick County Jail after posting a $4,000 cash bond.
