Some Tri-Staters are learning more about how they can help a local non-profit. Saturday Gibson County Animal Control held an open house.
The organization says it was an opportunity to thank the community for supporting them and showing the community the different ways they can help.
Animal control says if you don't want to adopt a dog-- you can always foster one.
Local rescue groups and vendors from around the area were at the open house.
There was also an auction that featured jewelry from Brinker's.
"People can always donate to shelters, there's always things we need, paper towels, toilet paper, just every day cleaning products that we use. So all the little things doesn't mean you have to adopt and animal."
And it wasn't just about the dogs-- a local bird rescue was on hand-- with some of their birds available for adoption.
