An Evansville school teacher has a lot to explain to her students after an early morning hit and run crash.
25-year old Jennifer Schwitz is charged with drunk driving and leaving the scene of a crash. She's a teacher at Dexter Elementary in Evansville.
Two Indiana State Troopers had pulled over a drunk driver on US 41 when they heard a crash. One of them went to investigate, eventually pulling over Schwitz on Riverside Drive.
Her car had extensive damage so much that she had to crawl out the back door.
The trooper learned schwitz had been going south on 41, when she veered across the median and into the north lanes, finally hitting a utility pole.
The pole fell, blocking the northbound lanes.
Schwitz then quickly sped away until the trooper caught up with her.
Indiana state police say she was legally drunk and is now behind bars.
