No Lowe's for Evansville's North Side

Residents on Evansvilles north side who are looking forward to shopping at Lowes will still have a drive ahead of them. Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfels office has confirmed the giant home improvement chain will not open in the old Shopko building at First and Diamond Avenues. Earlier this month, the City Council approved a tax incentive package for the project, but Lowes has apparently reconsidered due to the downturn in the economy.
