UPDATE: Another big race for republicans, U.S. House District 8 between Republican Larry Bucshon and Democrat Dave Crooks.  Incumbent Larry Bucshon won this race.  He gave his victory speech at the Casino Aztar Conference Center in downtown Evansville Tuesday night with his wife and four children by his side.  The Congressman is a heart surgeon and is anti-Obamacare.  Bucshon says he wants to move the country forward and get things back on track.

PREVIOUS STORY:
Indiana Republican 8th District Representative, Larry Bucshon, has won his bid for a second term in Congress.

With 91 percent of precincts reporting, Bucshon defeated Democratic challenger, Dave Crooks, 53% to 43%.

Bucshon and Crooks continued to trade jabs in the days leading up to the election.  Crooks claimed Bucshon voted to end the Medicare guarantee, and that Bucshon's vote would cost seniors an extra $6,400 a year.  Bucshon called the claims lies.

Throughout his life, Dr. Larry Bucshon has worked to diagnose problems and provide practical solutions. It all began in the small town of Kincaid, Illinois.
The son of a coal miner and a nurse, Larry was instilled with a strong work ethic and sense of service to others. They were also invaluable role models who encouraged honesty, integrity, and standing up for what you believe in.

As a result of his work ethic and sense of service, Larry choose to pursue a career in medicine. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and completed medical school at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Dr. Bucshon then completed his residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he served as chief resident in surgery, then remained to complete an advanced fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery. During this time he was enlisted with the United States Navy Reserve, serving from 1989 to 1998 when he was honorably discharged.

Specializing in cardiothoracic surgery, Dr. Bucshon has performed hundreds of heart surgeries throughout his distinguished career. His outstanding work and leadership in the field led to being honored as St. Mary's Medical Staff Physician of the year in 2007.
Prior to pursuing an opportunity to serve the people of Indiana's 8th district, Dr. Bucshon served as President of Ohio Valley HeartCare, the tri-state region's most comprehensive cardiology and cardiovascular surgery practice. Additionally, he was serving as Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Medical Director of the open heart recovery intensive care unit at St. Mary's Hospital.
Answering the call of public service, Dr. Bucshon chose to focus his efforts on representation of Indiana's 8th congressional district. He was elected to public office for the first time in November 2010.

Dr. Larry Bucshon and his wife Kathryn, who is a practicing physician and anesthesiologist in Evansville, reside in Warrick County. They have four children; Luke, Alexander, Blair and Zoe. The family attends Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Evansville.
