Elizabeth Cranick An Evansville school teacher has a lot to explain after an early morning hit and run crash and drunk driving arrest. It all started just before 3 a.m. Thursday when two Indiana State troopers first pulled over an alleged drunk driver, 22 year old Elizabeth Cranick, on Riverside Drive near U.S. Highway 41. The troopers then heard a crash. A car had turned onto Riverside Drive, heading in their direction and one trooper had to jump out of the way. He then jumped into his squad car and chased the driver until she finally stopped blocks away. They say the crash they heard was that driver 25 year old Jennifer Schwitz hitting a utility pole. Schwitz is a teacher at Evansville's Dexter Elementary. The damage to Schwitz's car was so extensive after her crash, she had to climb out the back door. Also, the utility pole she hit fell and blocked both northbound lanes of Highway 41.
