A Evansville Catholic principal got quite a surprise today. Theresa Berendes of Resurrection Catholic School was named a Peabody Energy Leader in Education and was awarded $1,000.

But before she got the check, three of her students had to correctly answer three questions. Luckily, they did.

"It's so heartwarming the hours we put in and the work we do," said Berendes, " to know the kids notice and appreciate it, to see student struggling to achieve something he didn't think he would be able to is just the most rewarding thing to do at Resurrection."

Award recipients are selected throughout the school year by a committee of top educators and business leaders.
