TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) -- Western Indiana police have identified a woman whose battered body was left along a roadway.
The Vigo County Sheriff's Department said Wednesday that 39-year-old Allyson Elmi-Lewis of Terre Haute was identified through dental records. A fisherman found her body Saturday along a road near the Vigo-Clay county line. Family members reported her missing Tuesday after seeing media reports about the slaying.
A coroner ruled Elmi-Lewis died of blunt force trauma to the head. It's not clear when she died. Detectives asked the public to come forward with information about the case.
Officers arrested the woman's estranged husband, 38-year-old Enzert Lewis of Terre Haute, for violating an order not to contact her. He was being held in the Vigo County Jail Wednesday. It wasn't clear if he had an attorney.
