White County Illinois residents are speaking out after a second ambulance service closes its doors. First the Grayville ambulance services shut down a couple of months ago and this weekend Norris City followed suit. Donnie Duncan, the Ambulance Director for Norris City says his remaining volunteers quit, and he was left with a skeleton crew. Those living in the town say they're tired of services setting up shop then leaving. First responders, are at the scene of accidents as soon as possible, but if you live in Norris City these services are coming from another town. Rebecca Cartmill says small towns like Norris City have a hard time keeping businesses afloat. Charles Brockett feels the same and fears White County Services in Carmi will be overloaded, since its handling all of Norris City's calls. But hope is not lost, Norris City officials say they're on the search for new volunteers. For now, residents say they'll sit and wait a little longer until they hear the sirens. Norris City was covering south of Enfield and Brownsville to the county line. Officials say they're already looking for new EMTs and hope to have the doors back open within a month.
