The Diocese of Owensboro Hopes To Help Growing Problem

The search for answers continues in the case of an Owensboro woman charged with child pornography. 25-year-old Sarah Cox of Owensboro was arrested Tuesday after investigators say they found more than a thousand inappropriate images of children on her computer.
The Diocese of Owensboro says this incident is a wake-up call. They say this is unbelievable timing, because they are hosting an upcoming event on protecting families from pornography.
The arrest of 25-year-old Sarah Cox is making some Owensboro parents think twice about the safety of their loved ones.
"It was kind of frightening because I had my children in daycare, they have their children, so I have grandchildren who are and so you wonder how safe are they," Elaine Robertson said.
Kentucky State Police found evidence supporting 1,064 counts of child pornography in Cox's home. Cox worked for child care facilities, child learning services, and as a nanny in the Owensboro area, but troopers still aren't sure if the kids in the photos are from here. They're also working to determine if she took any of the pictures.
"It's an irony to me, it points to the need for all of us to learn more and to be on guard about how to protect ourselves, our family, and our community," Richard Murphy said.
Richard Murphy and Elaine Robertson work at the Diocese of Owensboro and they are trying to get the word out about how to protect your children and marriage from pornography. They say an upcoming forum will help families tackle the problem. Robertson says porn addiction is causing more and more relationships to end.
"Never dreamed it in my whole entire life and so I mean just within the past three or four months, I've had two or three people come up and say that's why we got divorced and I said your kidding," Robertson said.
Robertson says bad things happen everywhere, but she hates that this recent crime happened in a family friendly place like Owensboro.
The Improving Intimacy & Protecting Families from Pornography event will be held on Monday, November 19 at 6:30 p.m. at Brescia University's Taylor Lecture Hall. The public event is free.
Cox will appear before a judge Monday morning.

this would be an opportunity for the diocese of Owensboro to now help her, since they wouldn't since I brought it to their attention she was a victim of this by a Catholic man looking for HIM to prosecute HIM FINALLY since everyone had brushed her off in the past.
