An Ohio County family is still reeling after an 18 year old car crash victim dies and police say her father caused the wreck. The family of Melissa Berkley says she passed away Saturday night at the University of Louisville Hospital. We first reported Friday that an accident happened on State Road 878 in Ohio County near Dundee Thursday night. This is where the Ohio County Sheriff says a dispute between Berkley, her boyfriend, Jerry Goodman Jr and Berkely's father took a turn for the worse. The two young people lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a pond. Tony Berkley is in the Ohio County jail facing a Wanton Endangerment charge that investigators say may be upgraded. Eyewitness News Tabnie Dozier speaks exclusively with Berkely's family as they try to cope with her being taken away at such a young age. For family who knew Melissa Berkely, they called her "Missy." Her cousin Gail Positano says the world is a little quieter without Melissa, for Gail, she's lost a family member to a car crash for the second time. But the pain doesn't get any easier, and that pain trickles down to her son Jacob. Positano remembers passing the crash scene but had no idea her cousin was involved. She says this stretch of road is now more difficult to pass, but says her heart is soothed because heaven gained an angel. Melissa Berkley's funeral will be handled by Bevil Brothers Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, visitation is Tuesday from 4-8pm, and Wednesday from 9am-2pm. The funeral will follow. But family members say they are struggling to pay for the funeral. If you'd like to donate to the family, donations can be sent to Bevil Brothers Funeral Home c/o Melissa Berkley 226 Louisville Rd Beaver Dam, KY 42320.
