Governor Mitch Daniels, Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke, and many other elected officials were on hand in Gibson County Monday morning to unveil the nearly 70 mile stretch of highway, which heads north, to Crane, Indiana.
Governor Daniels has worked closely on this project during his tenure in office. He says today is monumental and worthy of celebration.
The proposed second half of the route would continue to Bloomington, and connect I-70 West to Indianapolis.
The first cars should be allowed on the new highway by 5p.m. Monday.
We will have continuing coverage of this story throughout the day on Eyewitness News, and right here at tristatehomepage.com.
