A Mt. Carmel, Illinois man faces several charges after police say he barricaded himself and two small children in a home for 12 hours on Saturday.

Officers say they were called to the home on West 4th Street just after 10:30p.m.  They say 33-year-old Christopher Cash was refusing to let four children leave the house.  Eventually, two of the children were able to get out through a back door, leaving a toddler and an infant inside with Cash.

According to police, Cash refused to answer the door when they arrived.  That's when the decision was made to bring in a State Police SWAT team, as well as Wabash County Sheriff's Deputies.

12 Hours later, authorities say the SWAT team was able to take Cash into custody, and the children were taken to safety.  Neither were harmed.

Cash is expected to be charged with 2 counts of aggravated unlawful restraint, as well as 1 count of domestic battery.
