Police: Man Answers Door, Opens Fire

By: Michael C. Fehn
Updated: December 3, 2012
An Evansville man was arrested over the weekend after Police say he responded to a knock at the door with gunfire.

Officers say Calven Johnson answered his door on Saturday, and fired several shots from a rifle.

A witness tells police that Johnson was not firing the weapon at the person at the door, instead, she says, he fired the shots into the ground.

Once officers were able to make phone contact with Johnson, they say he surrendered.  A search of the home turned up several guns as well as ammunition.

According to police documents, witnesses say it's not uncommon for Johnson to fire his weapons after he's been drinking.

Johnson is charged with criminal recklessness.
