Indianapolis Motor Speedway officials have started a petition to bring
Tony Stewart back to the Indy 500 for the first time since 2001. Legendary owner Roger Penske extended an invitation to Stewart to let the Columbus, IN native drive in the Greatest Spectacle on May 28th, 2013. Stewart would also presumably drive in the Nascar Sprint Cup Series Coca Cola 600 in Charlotte, NC that same day in a feat recognized as 'Doing the Double'.
Stewart holds the best finish of any driver who has attempted the Double. He finished 6th in the Indianapolis 500 and 3rd in the Coca Cola 600 on Memorial Day weekend in 2001.
