UPDATE: Investigators confirm one of the people involved in the crash has died. The investigation into exactly happened is continuing, and an autopsy will be performed in the next 24 hours.
UPDATE: A serious single-vehicle accident puts two people in the hospital. It happened on Evansville's south side at the intersection of Taylor and Linwood Avenue. Evansville police say two males were ejected from the vehicle and taken to the hospital where they remain in critical condition. Officers believe the car was traveling south on Linwood when it left the roadway and hit a tree. Investigators say it's unclear how the wreck happened at this time, but the vehicle appears to have been traveling at a very high rate of speed.
"It is out of the ordinary," EPD Sgt. Lonnie Rahm told Eyewitness News. "Obviously speed was very, very much of a contributing factor in this wreck and this is something that reconstructionists will look heavily into,"
Investigators believe the car was airborne at some point during the accident. Tune into Eyewitness News Daybreak for the latest information.
