Kentucky Not Raising Taxes on Cigarettes

Some good news for smokers, it looks like cigarette taxes won't be going up in Kentucky. The panel reviewing Kentucky taxes as a way to generate revenue say they could generate $500 million a year from individual income taxes. And another $200 million would be added by expanded the state's sales tax to household utilities and several services that have traditionally been exempt. The recommendations will be presented to Governor Steve Beshear later this month.
