The election season is over but some newly elected officials haven't slowed down yet. U.S. Senator-Elect Joe Donnelly made several stops through Southern Indiana today, encouraging those who need it most through the Christmas season.
The holidays are difficult times for some Americans, and newly elected Senator Joe Donnelly wants to show how much he cares for those who have fallen on hard times. The Senator-Elect made his first stop in Evansville since winning last month's election at the United Caring Shelters.
The shelter helps those who are either homeless or can't afford to care for themselves.  Officials hoping to give those people a chance to get back on their feet.
Donnelly toured the building and helped volunteers serve food. Guests at the UCS say its good to see a public figure like Donnelly helping those who need it most.
Donnelly says he also visited shelters and food  banks in Terre Haute and New Albany Saturday. Sunday, he'll head to the northern part of the state, making stops in Fort Wayne, Gary and South Bend.
