Just days after an Evansville church is robbed for the second time in a month, it says its counting its blessings thanks to generous donors. Earlier this week we told you about Evansville Police arresting 41 year old Kenneth Hurtz after officers say he was trying to steal the air conditioning unit from McFarland Baptist Church on the city's south-side. But the pastor and his members are keeping positive spirits, he says tri-staters are rallying around his church after seeing our story and are helping pay the costs. Sunday's service was held in a smaller fellowship hall since the sanctuary doesn't have heat, but the unit will be fixed by the end of the year and the church says it has some anonymous donors to thank. Pastor Kent Hite says he's received hundreds of dollars in donations. EPD says Kenneth Hurtz was caught taking apart the unit, he fled but was captured soon after, Pastor Hite says he feels no anger towards the suspect. Hite says his congregation isn't one to hold grudges. The donors aren't members of McFarland and many didn't want to be recognized. Kenneth Hurtz remains in the Vanderbugh County jail where's he's being held without bond.
