Overturned Tanker Closes Road, Schools in Posey County

Updated: December 10, 2012
UPDATE:  The North Posey School District has decided to send all students home at 1:00.  The students are being sent home due to a power outage at North Elementary School.
The power is out at the school due to a traffic accident on Highway 165 north of Interstate I-64.
Police say a tanker truck carrying gasoline ran off the road, turned over, and is leaking its load.  The accident occurred around 9:00 a.m.  The road is expected to remain closed until at least 3:00 p.m.

At least one school in the North Posey School District is without power, but officials say they plan to continue with classes as scheduled.
North Elementary School and the administrative offices are without power.  There is no plan to send students home at this point, but the school says parents may pick up children at North Elementary and take them home, and the student will not be counted as unexcused.
Officials are on the scene of a tanker truck accident north of Poseyville, but it is unclear if the accident caused the power to go out.
A witness on the scene of the accident says a tanker truck ran off the road, and the tanker is leaking gasoline.
Eyewitness news has a crew on the way to the scene.  We will have more details as they become available.
