With the holidays approaching, Owensboro police try to make this Christmas season special for several kids. The Fraternal Order of Police held its annual Shop with a Cop. Families paired up with law enforcement officials for a shopping spree at Wal-Mart. About 90 kids from the Owensboro-Daviess County area were selected for the event.

"Whether they had financial hardship or other hardships," said Officer Jeremy Henry, "a lot of the time children are the innocent victims. In that, they are kind of stuck. So, we try to make it a bit easier during Christmas."

Kids were selected from referrals provided by members of law enforcement, state agencies, area schools, and local shelters.
