A young Tri-State man who died in 2007 is being honored at the Donate Life Rose Parade in Pasadena, California. Thomas Walls was stabbed in the neck in Evansville in August of 2007 and later died from his injuries. Because he was a donor, Thomas' organs and tissue donations saved the lives of six others he never met.

His family and friends are working hard to create a beautiful float to honor Thomas. They met up at Swonder Ice Arena tonight, a place Thomas spent quite a bit of time.

"We have in our volunteer group people that are alive today," said Thomas' mother Lee Ann Schafer, "because someone made a choice to be an organ donor. We have many stories here in the community of people that are alive. They have families. They have hope because others made the choice that Thomas made when he was 16."

The Indiana Organ Procurement Organization is sponsoring Thomas' mother and his brother as they travel to Pasadena to see the parade. There is also a Thomas F. Walls Youth Hockey Scholarship. If you'd like to donate, you can do so through the Vanderburgh County Community Foundation.
