Consumer Group Warns of Furniture Related Deaths

The Consumer Product Safety Commission is highlighting the number of young children killed by television sets or appliances falling on them.
Officials want you to be aware of how often this kind of tragedy is happening. More than 3-hundred deaths are on the books between 2010 and 2011. Most all of those were children under the age of nine.
Last year had the highest number of fatalities related to tipped furniture or TV's with 41. The commission also points out it's not just deaths, there are tens of thousands of injuries reported each year because of the same thing.
There are reportedly an average of 43-thousand people hurt each year in that manner. You may remember that tragic story around Thanksgiving right here in the Tri-State, when a 4-year-old Evansville child, Gennix Starx, died after a television fell off its stand on top of him.
