Eyewitness News is on the scene of a police pursuit in Evansville that ends in a car wreck and the suspect we're told is in the hospital. It happened afternoon near the intersection of Joyce and Covert Avenue. Police say the suspect, driving a stolen car, led them on a chase before crashing in to another vehicle in the intersection. The suspect ran but was taken down by a police k-9 a short time later. He's being treated for those injuries. The driver of the other car has been taken to the hospital for, what are being called, minor injuries. The scene is now clear

That pic was taken by my house when they closed Welborn all they did was moved closer to St. Mary's for the free health care so it has become terrible but don't you fret the good ol boys put on a heck of show 15 cop cars not a siren one until the accident happened

Joyce and Covert, and south of there, where is that, didn't that used to be called the projects.... "back in the day", people referenced that area as the sewers backup area.."Wasn't until later we called it combined"(the stinky stuff)...I know as an kid it was. I go back to when cornfields sold for subdivisions in that old bayou. We as kids rode our bicycles out there on an adventure and an journey to the bottoms one day.(big stuff for young boys with pioneer instincts) They were building apartments, housing and the Washington square mall out there....(horizons!)..(new stuff!) My grandfather said they were idiots, the place wasn't much more than an swamp to hunt ducks in. told a story about getting an Packard stuck out there once. He said the Idiots will ruin downtown commerce. He said, himself and his fellow merchants along main street might had just as well throw in the towel. The man also said in the ingenious big city downtown's they are building parking garages, and offering free parking along the streets in they're downtown commerce sections to keep the fine customers and patrons coming back. His forethought is still present today in the towns 'however weak efforts to do what he was trying to underline and protect. Not being very political he just watched, with disgust as we smashed our city center "one block at a time" "think from altitude, lapsed, picture it!" He predicted the demise the Civic Center would have on what was left of commerce traffic throughput downtown and its main street.....sad..even said the mayor then should be ashamed of himself, taking personal funding for every yard of concrete that went into the boondoggle, yes he said "boondoggle",straight up. I was young but I do remember that...in lapsed time of course. Not much changes in realistic lapse. Standing the other day on the third floor of the Civic Center using the gift of time lapse vision,I must have inherited from Him,I could see his place of business,Its sad that it all come's to be what it is (Junk trending profit margins, they cannot even pay they're taxes I hear.).. they "followed" trends as usual and are still "following". I think he would have loved the location of an Arena downtown,REALLY,he even said once, the town should have built an large stadium on that block on Main where fire destroyed that whole block "back in the days when they could have". He said goodness, it would overlook the river, and in 1834 my Grandfather and his Brothers came up that bank and started a business. Because they thought the river was the best thing Evansville had going for it.............lapse that forward from here, Right Now......"the plan" works its a natural just like our fore bearers could vision forward gosh, its why we are whom we are,and where we are. History, heritage, evolution its exactly why those people came here and founded this place and as we say today "morphed up the rivers banks" Sorry,to be off subject ,however I'm thinking that's how real visions are born....
