River Ridge Church Loses Its Home, Now Saddened by Connecticut School Massacre

Two tragedies for an Indiana church, all in a very short time.  River Ridge Church of Christ in Newburgh lost everything after the Sharon Place fire ripped through the complex a few weeks ago, now the Connecticut school massacre, and River Ridge members say their hearts are heavy. Police say a gunman entered Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut, killing 20 six and seven year old children and six adults. Members of the River Ridge Congregation say the mass shooting pulled on their heart strings, what happened nearly a thousand miles away, hits far too close to home. Church members say the horror at Sandy Hook is on the front of their minds, before there was any preaching or communion, there was a moment to recognize the lives lost. River Ridge right now doesn't have a home so the church moves around alot, Sunday's service was ironically held in an elementary school, we met one member who says his mind is racing, he's a father and a tri-state school principal. First, rolling flames tear through Sharon Place destroying River Ridge Church of Christ. Now, 20 children and six adults are dead after a Connecticut school shooting. These events are rocking our nation and families here at home. Aaron Collins is a husband, a dad and the principal of Sebree Elementary School in Sebree, Kentucky, already he's thinking of how to better protect his four children and the hundreds in his school. His fellow members are doing the same, recognizing this misfortune and leaning on their faith. River Ridge has reminders of its hardships as it continues to search for a new home, but says its never lost hope and prays those in Connecticut won't either. Prayer, strength and belief, that's here at River Ridge whatever space is used, and they're being sent up north to the families in Connecticut. Details continue to emerge as investigators try to piece together the shooting in Newtown.
