People right here in the Tri-State are are lifting their voices in prayer from nearly a thousand miles away. The horrific shock from the Connecticut massacre has left us wanting to know more, but most of all what to do after such tragedy. Many have come together today with candle light gatherings and prayer services throughout the nation, and tonight we see our community come together during an emotional vigil in Evansville.
"This touches my heart to know babies are already gone and they didn't get a chance to graduate or get married," says Marisa Knox at tonights vigil. Traces of disbelief and shock are still seen on these mourning faces. A community has come together to grieve here at home.  "I cant even imagine what these families are going through. To have kissed your baby and sent them off to school and then hours later to know they are no longer with you," she adds.
Behind the candle light are tears.  "It may not be in a big manner, but we're here to support them just to let them know that we still love and care about their tragedy. A sad and quiet spirit, just everyone sharing and express with each other," says  Stacia christian who opened her doors to her community so we could come together  when it fells like we are falling apart."Friday night after I kept listening to the news reports I thought we kind of needed to do something for a little bit of closure for everyone.""We want Newton Connecticut to know that Evansville Indiana is praying for them," adds Knox. So tonight friends, neighbors, and even strangers, leant out a hand and did just that.  "We want them to know that God is with them and he has their. babies in the palm of his hands."
Osborne Funeral Home says  they will have their doors open to anyone wanting to send condolences to Newtown.  They will mail them next Friday.
