Owensboro says it's touched by the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary and will remember the lives lost. Tomorrow, all city Christmas lights will be turned off in honor of the events in Newtown.

For Mayor Ron Payne, he visits schools often and says he's hurt and feels for the families, educators, and community. What hits his heart is the innocent children who were just beginning to live.

"It was only a week ago that I visited the fourth grade at Estes Elementary," said Mayor Payne. "And when I heard about that all that went through, my mind was that classroom and something like that happening to those wonderful kids, and it just tears you apart."

Mayor Payne asks that you join his effort and cut off your Christmas lights as well beginning at dark.
