Police are now investigating the death of three year old Kalab Lay as a murder. The Vanderburgh County Coroner's Office finished their autopsy on the boy who was allegedly beaten to death at the hands of his parents. The coroner’s office says the toddler died from multiple blunt trauma due to beating. The parents, 33-year old Amanda Brooks and 40-year-old Terry Lay, are not facing murder charges yet. Brooks is charged with battery and neglect. Lay is charged with neglect of Kalab's twin sister. The two will be in court Friday to face those charges. The prosecutor’s office says they've just received the information from the coroner’s office. They want to review that before possibly changing the charges and don't expect that to happen until next week. The twins, their infant brother and a 12-year-old sibling were taken from the family’s home at Eastbrook Mobile Home Park Monday. Family members say they were just returned from foster care. Two other siblings are in foster care in Illinois. That's also where Kalab and his sister were up until late last year.
