Staff Sergeant Nathan Patterson, of Boonville, has served in the Indiana National Guard since 2005.
He graduated from Boonville High School in 2006, and was deployed to Iraq in 2007.
Nathan was welcomed home by his daughter, mother and sister, and on his return, was honored by Boonville Mayor Pam Hendrickson.
Staff Sergeant Patterson is now a full-time recruiter for the Indiana Army National Guard.
