Newburgh Detour

Some Newburgh residents are frustrated with a detour that was just put into place on Highway 662. Drivers have had to take another route while the road is being repaired. Many of these drivers have been relying on Old Stone House Estates to make their trip to and from work easier, and more convenient. It was originally set up using that neighborhood as a thru street for drivers. But this become a headache for residents who live there who wanted to see their subdivision free from drivers who dont live there. Even though the road, which runs through Old Stone House Estates is a public road, the county recently closed the detour to thru traffic. That is frustrating some motorists. Warrick county officials closed the road for safety reasons. Commissioner Nova Conner told me that the road going through Old Stone House Estates wasnt built for a high volume of traffic. They anticipate fixing the crack in the road will take a while, which she says is too long for the subdivision to continue to be used as a detour.
