Three members of the Robb family died early Friday morning when their house caught fire. Today they were laid to rest. We now have more on how some in the community are stepping up to help the Robb family. Friends and family helped lay to rest Amanda, Bailey, and Aubrey Robb. While many said their goodbyes a Mount Vernon business opened its doors for a donation drive to help the family.
"Dan's competition just donated some shoes, shirts, and some pants. It's our first donation," says Rent One employee Nathan May. After the tragedy hit Mount Vernon, many decide to help give back. "I still don't believe it actually happened. It doesn't seem real. You just don't hear stuff like that in this little town hardly ever." Shock has not completely set in as the employees of Rent One in Mount Vernon remember the three lives lost in Friday morning's deadly house fire. "They were very nice people." Employee Bonnie Jackson's son was one of the victim's best friends. "He loved that family. Bailey was his best friend. He mentioned the other day, I can't talk to him any more. I said no, you cant," says Jackson.
This business is coming together with the community to help. It has started a donation drive to help the family get back on its feet. "The way I see it is, if you ever needed something for yourself at one time of your desperate times in need, it wouldn't hurt to actually have someone help you," says May. "We're doing it to help out a family that we've known for years. They were customers of ours, and we have co-workers that have actually known the family a lot longer than that. We have co-workers that have know them that have been there since they were little kids."
Organizers do not have a goal on how much may be collected, they just hope to get what the community is willing to give. If somebody's hurting and stuff, you're going to want to help them. This is just one big family here," says Jackson. Rent one in mount vernon will continue the donation drive to help out the Robb family until Saturday.
