The Assistant Superintendent Riley Ramsey says the shorter school week saves money on bus costs and helps students take part time jobs, "Incomes and salaries are really desperate in this county and in the nation, and it gives them an actual chance to work on a Monday, where they did not have that chance before. "
Ramsey tells us that the district has to get special permission from the state each year for the schedule. That's because the district doesn't reach the mandated 170 days of instruction, even though the district exceeds the amount of hours required.
