Two Inmates Escape from Branchville Correctional Facility
Perry County - Friday night, April 4, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Branchville Correctional Officers noticed that inmates Conan L. Helsley, 20, and Kent A. Day, 45, were not in their dorm. An emergency count quickly verified the two had escaped from the facility. Helsley is serving a sentence for robbery and burglary. Day is serving a sentence for murder. At the time of their escape, both inmates were wearing a Khaki shirt and pants. Indiana State Police believe the two inmates were most likely picked up from a nearby location and are no longer in the immediate area. State police detectives have reason to believe that Day may possibly be headed toward the Madisonville, KY area. Helsley is from Pike County and is known to frequent Warrick and Vanderburgh Counties. Both inmates should be considered dangerous. Anyone with information concerning their whereabouts is encouraged to contact police immediately.
